Top 10 Musical Sequences In Non-Musicals

9. The Jerk (1979)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poLCNWk0pZI In Steve Martin's classic comedy, we follow Navin Johnson as he goes from rags to riches and back again. Along the way, Johnson gets hunted by a mad killer, gets in bad with the mob, and adopts a pup with an unfortunate name. The musical scene in this film involves Johnson and Marie (played by Bernadette Peters) as they walk together along the beach. As the two stroll and Navin strums a ukulele, they sing the song Tonight You Belong To Me, originally written in the '20's but made most famous by Patience and Prudence in the 1950's. The best part about this performance is when Marie pulls out a cornet and busts out a solo. Another great musical moment in the film can only be described simply as "The Thermos Song."
