They€™re used in the film to stop the destruction of Earth by a robot named Gort, and they help to serve as a powerful warning to all mankind about the folly of nuclear war.

12. The Rocket Hitting The Man in the Moon (A Trip to the Moon, 1902)

The film itself is very iconic and has served for inspiration for everything from other movies to a very memorable video by the Smashing Pumpkins. But the single most iconic moment from this movie, and the one that most film fans recognize and most non-film fans have at least seen at one point in their lives is the, admittedly bizarre, shot of the rocket ship stuck in the eye of the Man on the Moon.
