Top 20 James Bond Moments

18. "No Mr. Bond I expect you die!" (Goldfinger, 1964)

http://youtu.be/U1TmeBd9338 One of the running jokes in the Bond series is the villains never kill Bond when they have the chance. They'll give enough time for Bond to escape from whatever evil death trap they've set up for him and they'll even tell him what their scheme is. One of the best examples of this occurs in "Goldfinger". This film is essentially about the villain, Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frobe), continously allowing Bond to live. In one scene Goldfinger has Bond strapped to a table underneath a laser that will slice the table, and Bond, in half. He asks Goldfinger if he expects him to talk, to which Goldfinger responds, "No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!" It's a wonderfully hilarious and villainous moment that Goldfinger really relishes. It's made even funnier by the fact Bond tricks Goldfinger in to letting him live. Bond tells him MI6 will move in on Goldfinger if he's killed. Goldfinger turns off the laser but keeps Bond his prisoner. It's not the worst reason to keep Bond alive but Goldfinger really undersells his villainy after delivering that great line.
