Trailer: DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK is creepy as hell

I love trailers that have been purely conceived for the cinema-going audience. Reels that use your vulnerability of watching images on a giant screen in pitch black with nowhere to run or hide, to fully work on your senses and just plain creep you out. I love horror movies that are effective like that too. The last one I can remember was The Orphanage, the Guillermo Del Toro produced ghost story from a few years back which had me on tenderhooks - screaming, wailing, jumping out of my seat like a little child. The exorcism scene in particular is what I'm getting at where suspense is cranked up to 11.

It's no surprise that Del Toro has his name to this trailer. You can feel his touch immediately. The movie is Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark, a feature adaptation of the obscure 70's t.v. movie which Del Toro has co-wrote/produced with his usual partner Matthew Robbins. Troy Nixey, makes his directorial debut. Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce star in Miramax's January release but please, please, please watch the trailer at night time, full screen, in complete darkness. Or better yet, wait until you can see it in the theatre.
