Transformers: The Last Knight Review: 5 Ups & 6 Downs

4. The Pacing Is A Total Mess

Like all the other Transformers movies, this is a long, long film, clocking in at 149 minutes and making the viewer feel pretty much every minute of that. Making things worse is the wonky pacing, with the film starting off slowly, then ramping up considerably at the half-way point, and then dragging its feet through several presumed climaxes in the third act.

Like pretty much every other Transformers movie, it doesn't know when to take its time and when to slam into fifth gear, and the result is a dizzying viewing experience that's at times overly frantic and at others staggeringly boring (usually during exposition).

The film required three editors to sift through everything Michael Bay shot, but even their combined efforts couldn't make the film flow properly. At least it's shorter than most of the other movies, though.
