Transformers: The Last Knight Reviews - 10 Early Reactions You Need To Know

8. Anthony Hopkins Is A Hilarious Highlight

Transformers Anthony Hopkins
Paramount Pictures
"One of the sillier highlights is Anthony Hopkins babbling on about robots as historian and astronomer Sir Edmund Burton. Hearing an Oscar-winning actor and actual British Knight talking in-depth Autobot lore was genuinely quite funny, whether intentional or not." - IGN
"Hopkins gets one or two scenes where he’s actually enjoying himself and not just mentally calculating whether this paycheck can get him a walk-in humidor to go with the new wine cellar." - The Wrap
"Hopkins helps to spank things along with his can-you-believe-this-is-what-it’s-come-to? reading of lines like 'What a bitchin’ car she is!'" - Variety
"Hopkins, who’s clearly entered the baroque phase of his career, seems to be having a great deal of fun — although every time he smiles, it seems less organic to his character and more about the new beach house he’s going to buy with the money he’s raking in." - Hollywood Reporter

This isn't that surprising, but it's still great to hear that Anthony Hopkins has at least put some effort into making his bizarre supporting role a lot of fun.

Yes, it's a transparent paycheck role for the acting legend, but it sounds like he doesn't just sleepwalk through the dialogue and has actually imparted some of his actorly gravitas into the role.

If nothing else, it's going to be entertainingly surreal.
