Uma Thurman: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Mia Wallace - Pulp Fiction

What else could have been number one? Pulp Fiction was the movie that made Tarantino a legend, gave John Travolta his comeback and made stars of both Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman. Mia Wallace would become the literal poster girl for the film and its essence of nineties cool. She plays Tarantino€™s version of a femme fatale; the bored trophy wife who gives Vincent Vega the best and worst night of his life. He€™s forced to go on a €œnot€ date with her while her gangster husband is away. The character seems aloof at first but she draws the audience in by being both funny and a little strange. Thurman and Travolta share strong chemistry and their dance sequence would become a defining moment in both their careers. Mia€™s subsequent drug overdose manages to balance horror and dark comedy, with Thurman€™s reaction to being stabbed with adrenaline being the punch line to a very tense joke. Mia will probably always be the first role people think of when they talk about her career, but it€™s to her credit that it hasn€™t overshadowed her other work.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
