Uma Thurman: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. The Bride - Kill Bill: Volume One And Two

The Kill Bill movies managed to pull Uma out of a bad career slump and gave her maybe her most iconic role. Quentin Tarantino€™s first proper action film sees Thurman take on the role of an assassin seeking bloody revenge against her former teammates. The Bride is a tough and badass character but what makes her great is that she is allowed to be vulnerable too. She€™s still suffering from the mental scars of her attack and she doesn€™t win every fight. She might look cool slicing through a club full of gangsters with a sword but her terror when she€™s buried alive is just as genuine. And the scene where she breaks down upon learning her daughter is still alive is one of Thurman€™s strongest scenes as an actress to date. The Bride instantly became one of the top female action heroes in cinema and Thurman nailed both the action and drama of the role. There€™s still the outside chance she€™ll return someday for Volume Three, if Quentin ever gets around to writing it.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
