Uncharted Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

1. There's A Genuinely Surprising Twist

Uncharted isn't a film that has much to offer at all in the way of surprises, but to its credit it does manage to pull off one genuinely unexpected sleight of hand, perhaps in part because most viewers will have been conditioned to expect a pretty run-of-the-mill action-adventure flick.

Without going into detail, there's one narrative wrinkle later in the movie that's actually been fairly well-concealed in the movie's marketing, especially if you haven't been obsessively poring over the trailers in recent weeks.

At the end of act two there's a gear-shift which might catch even genre-savvy viewers and fans of the games off-guard.

That's not to say that it majorly elevates what is still a fundamentally bland action flick at its core, but it did temporarily rouse this critic out of their bored stupor for a few minutes.

That's something, right?
