20 Underrated Recent Movies You Might Have Missed

18. We Bury the Dead

We Bury the Dead is 100% a movie that was totally undone by its own dishonest marketing, given that the trailers largely sold it as a more action-packed post-apocalyptic joint in which Daisy Ridley battles hordes of the undead.

But this is actually a far more introspective and quiet film about Ridley's protagonist Ava battling grief while searching for her missing husband, and one that ventures off in a few unexpected directions.

There are spurts of action, but they're far more infrequent than one would expect from the marketing, as likely resulted in the film's frosty audience response and box office failure.

Yet if you're able to go into the film without the expectation of a Resident Evil or Dawn of the Dead, this is one of the more original entries into the wildly oversaturated zombie genre in quite some time.

And if that's not enough, it also boasts a brilliant Daisy Ridley performance and some breathtaking Australian scenery.
