20 Insane Upcoming Movies You Won't Believe Are Real
10. Toys 'R' Us
Not merely content to make movies based on toys, Hollywood is apparently now making movies adapted from toy stores, because a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie was announced last year.
While Toys 'R' Us was certainly a cultural staple of the 1990s for millions upon millions of children, a nostalgia piece about the iconic toy store just seems completely unhinged.
Beyond the stomach-churning "hail capitalism" of it all, a pretty great movie about Toys 'R' Us was released last year that nobody even bothered to watch - Channing Tatum's terrific dark comedy Roofman.
This new film is said to be inspired by the style and tone of classics such as Night at the Museum, Back to the Future, Big, Jumanji, and Barbie - a list of great movies this film will almost certainly be derisively compared to.
After all, is there any chance at all that this manages to deliver a compelling story and not just feel like the cynical death rattle of a brand that's been on the decline for about 20 years?
Hollywood doesn't want to hear it, but The Lego Movie was the exception that proves the rule.
