Wicker is a new romantic fantasy film from writer-directors Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson based on Ursula Wills-Jones' short story "The Wicker Husband."

Olivia Colman portrays the outcast fisherwoman of a sleepy village who, fed up of being on her own, asks a local basket weaver (Peter Dinklage) to create her a husband out of wicker (Alexander Skarsgård), as you do.

Say no more, honestly.

This sounds like a perfect pair of roles for Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård to inhabit, and if the reviews from Sundance are any indication, this is a disarmingly weird, crowd-pleasing hoot that makes the absolute most of their talents.

Rom-coms are such a disposable dime a dozen in the current era that anything trying to do something off-piste and creative should be loudly commended.

And the chalk-and-cheese pairing of Colman and Skarsgård only makes the outlandish setup that much more intriguing.
