10 Upcoming Movies Which Are Already Doomed

There's no denying the ambition of Sam Mendes' four-film Beatles biopic project, where each member of the legendary rock group will get their own theatrically released movie.

The casting choices also seem pretty great - Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr - but the entire endeavour seems like it might be sunk by Sony's puzzling release strategy.

All four films will be released on the same day, April 7, 2028, which to the outside observer seems like a sure-fire way to guarantee that they all end up flopping at the box office.

Realistically, casual audience members might be coaxed out of the house to watch the McCartney and Lennon films, but there's virtually zero chance that anyone outside of the die-hard Beatles fanbase will take the time or spend the money to watch all four films before they leave cinemas.

It just feels like a ridiculous, counter-productive strategy, rather than releasing one of the biopic films every three-or-so months over the course of the year.

There probably isn't any reality where movies based on the lives of George Harrison and Ringo Starr are massive box office hits, but releasing all four films in one crowded cluster just seems incredibly misguided.

Don't be surprised if Sony ends up reneging on this, though, and decides to space them out a little bit.
