20 Upcoming Movies We Know NOTHING About
We're still in the dark about these fascinating upcoming movies.
We live in such a media and content-saturated era that it feels like we know basically everything about a movie long before it actually releases.
With studios being more risk-averse than ever, it's not hugely surprising that they'll willingly spoil an entire film to try and get your butt in a cinema seat.
And while studies consistently show that general audiences actually like to know exactly what they're paying for, there's also something to be said for a film that holds its cards a little closer to the chest.
After all, for adventurous and curious moviegoers there's little more thrilling than sitting down to watch a film you know very little about.
And that's absolutely true about these 20 upcoming movies, which despite being shot a long time ago and perhaps even being mere months away from release, are largely still keeping us in the dark.
Hell, even though trailers have already dropped for many of these films, the marketing teams have done a bang-up job of keeping the finer details mysterious, focusing instead on vibes.
And regardless of how these films ultimately turn out, that sure is refreshing...
20. Digger
Despite having started shooting almost 18 months ago, it's fascinating how little concrete information we have about Alejandro G. Iñárritu's (Birdman, The Revenant) new film Digger.
Tom Cruise will star as Digger Rockwell, who is described as "the most powerful man in the world," and who embarks on a desperate mission to save humanity before a disaster he unleashed destroys everything.
As fascinating as all this sounds, what the hell does it actually mean?
Is Tom Cruise playing the President of the United States or someone with actual superpowers? What is the nature of this disaster exactly, and how could it destroy everything?
The wildly enigmatic teaser trailer sheds basically no further light on the matter, beyond showing Cruise at what might be an offshore oil rig with a shovel. That's all we've got.
But frankly, the Iñárritu-Cruise pairing is so innately compelling that they could just release the film this coming October without any further elaboration and cinephiles would still flock in droves to see it.
