7. Westworld Reboot
Michael Crichton's 1973 sci-fi Western Westworld is a sure-fire genre classic, spawning the 1976 sequel Futureworld, a short-lived 1980 TV series, and more recently the acclaimed HBO series which ran from 2016 to 2022.
And back in May, Warner Bros. announced that a new Westworld movie was in the works from prolific screenwriter David Koepp, who previously adapted Crichton's novel Jurassic Park to the screen so successfully.
Koepp will reportedly be drawing directly from Crichton's original film and a "major filmmaker" is said to be circling the project.
While the HBO series remains popular despite its divisive final season, there are many fans who would simply prefer to see another season of the show considering how abruptly it was cancelled without a proper conclusion.
Starting again from scratch when the TV series got it basically right just a decade ago seems misguided. Better to get more distance from the show and let people miss the IP a little more before trying this.
