Us Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

3. The Strong Supporting Cast

Us Elizabeth Moss
Universal

Lupita Nyong'o may decisively steal the show, but every single performance in this movie delivers.

The obvious stand-out beyond Nyong'o is Winston Duke as her husband Gabe, who accounts for much of the film's humour, while Elizabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker are a riot as the couple's boozy, dysfunctional pals Kitty and Josh.

The film's two major child actors, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex, also do splendid work as Adelaide and Gabe's children Zora and Jason, nailing the duality of their dual-roles as ably as their adult co-stars.

Simply, nobody's phoning things in here or doing even merely adequate work: everybody's bringing their A-game, and it elevates the end result significantly.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
