Vacation: 10 Ill-Advised Comedy Movie Comebacks

Vacation 2015
Ealing Studios
Before Oliver Parker took on the epic task of resurrecting Dad's Army he scored a minor victory rebooting this saga of hellions and hockey sticks. Defying modern convention, the tale was jam-packed with provocatively-dressed young women in school uniform and Rupert Everett dragged up to play Headteacher Miss Fritton.

Despite the decidedly old-fashioned approach the first entry proved a hit for Ealing Studios. The Legend Of Fritton's Gold followed, featuring David Tennant in one of the various agent-sacking roles he got after leaving Doctor Who. The madness seemed to end with part two, though a third adventure is still being talked about.

Yes the revived studio got some mileage out of their classic brand, and things were modernized a bit. Overall however this became a retrograde step. The original was never going to win any awards, but the new version saddled a decent cast with a poor script and an outdated Carry On-style sensibility.
