Venom 2: 10 Delightful Trailer Details & What Fans Think They Mean

7. That Window

In the trailer, a dynamic scene involves Carnage dramatically framed by a stained glass window. Fans have debated the significance of the setting. In the comics, Carnage was considered a prophet by a cult who worships in a cathedral they'd built called the Church of the New Darkness. Could there be a similar storyline in the movie?

Other fans wonder if the window might be a reference to Our Lady of Saints Church. Tumblr user nothingweirdhere pointed out the similarities between the window in the trailer and a panel from the comics.

In the comics, Eddie is a practicing Catholic who is considering committing suicide. Believing this would be a sin, he goes to Our Lady of Saints to pray. This is where he first bonds with his symbiote. Because of this, the church holds an emotional significance for the two characters. Venom refers to the church as where they bonded, "Just like marriage."

Movie Venom and Eddie have a very different backstory than the original comics. It will be interesting to see if this setting is important for their characters, or just a dramatic backdrop inconsequential to the plot.

West loves pop culture, movies, comics and TV-shows just as much as you do. Probably. Since you're reading this. Also, she has a cat. He's pretty awesome.
