Shriek is a criminally insane mutant who can manipulate sound. It's clear symbiote Carnage and his host, serial killer Cletus Kasady, will be a major villain in the movie. But what role will Frances Louise Barrison, i.e., Shriek, play? Fans think she will be a second villain in the movie and be a romantic interest to Carnage like in the comics.
In the comics, the backstory between the two characters isn't deep. Carnage is escaping from Ravencroft Institute. He finds fellow inmate Shriek and they bond over loving to hear the sound of people dying. Fun. Shriek thinks that a guy who likes to kill and has tentacles is totally her jam. So, off they go to murder some people together. Classic late 90s.
The two teaming up seems like a good guess, but will their backstory be the same? The trailer shows us Shriek in Ravencroft, and has a dynamic scene that involves Shriek reading something, and using her sonic energy while in great distress. Her strong reaction might indicate that whatever is in her hand is about Cletus. Maybe movie Cletus and Shriek had a relationship before the serial killer was arrested, giving them a more nuanced backstory.
