Venom 2: 10 Things We Want To See
7. An R Rating
After the success of Deadpool, people speculated that Venom would receive an R Rating and have Sony take another shot at the adult franchise. But in the end, the film released with a PG-13 stamp, which still allowed it to break box office records and outdo all expectations.
With that being said, it isn't crazy to think, regardless of what the producers or director has stated, that Sony could venture into R Rating territory with the film's follow-up. Fans and audiences would love to see a violent, more unchained version of Venom that fully explores his dark side and realizes the true potential of what it means to tell a Venom story.
It has been rumored that the PG-13 rating was implemented to allow the possible introduction Spider-Man somewhere down the road. But if Deadpool can coexist with the PG-13 rated X-Men films, there really isn't a reason a Venom sequel shouldn't be rated R.
And if the post credit scene was any indication on what route the studio will take with the sequel, it will be difficult to pack all that Carnage into a PG-13 film.
