8. Hints At The Larger Universe
It is no secret that Sony has been wanting to get into the Cinematic Universe game for quite some time now. After the disaster that was Amazing Spider-Man 2, which felt like it tried to introduce almost all of the 900 characters the studio has the rights to, it seems they may have figured out this whole shared universe thing with Venom.
Venom was the sole focus in the first film with a post-credit scene setting up a potential showdown in the followup with Carnage. But Sony has announced films that exist in this universe such as Kraven The Hunter, Morbius, and a Sinister Six film. So the sequel could be a great place to subtlety start dropping hints these other characters exist.
In no way, shape or form are fans asking for a mysterious figure to walk through a weapons cache where all the villain's gear is kept. It could be as simple as Eddie tracking a story that involves a living vampire or Brock brushing off stories that the LIFE foundation has been absorbed by Silver Sable's PMC.
Whatever the studio decides, Venom 2 is the time to start laying the groundwork for things to come.
