Venom: Let There Be Carnage: 23 WTF Moments

1. Post-Credits Scene: Peter Parker's "Cameo"

And finally, it's the scene that the Internet just can't stop talking about.

It was rumoured and "leaked" long before release, and it is indeed true that Venom's mid-credits scene sees Eddie and Venom dragged into the Marvel Cinematic Universe - well, sort of.

Venom is telling Eddie about the symbiotes' vast realm of knowledge, and just as he attempts to demonstrate it, a bright orange light fills their beachside hotel room, transporting them to the same room but in another dimension.

On the TV, J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) reveals Spider-Man's (Tom Holland) identity, as per the events of the MCU's Spider-Man: Far From Home, before Venom licks the TV screen with Peter's face on. This suggests that Eddie is, at least temporarily, part of the MCU.

This is obviously huge given the fact that Sony's Spider-Man Universe has been only tangentially related to the MCU up to this point, despite Tom Holland filming a cameo for Venom that was later scrapped at Marvel Studios' request.

Fans have pointed out that the bright orange light is most likely Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) spell from the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, his multiversal spell accidentally dragging Venom into the MCU.

It obviously remains to be seen what this will lead to. Could Venom have a sneaky cameo in Far From Home, or might Spidey appear in Venom 3? Or will there be a separate project in which the two meet?

Needless to say, if a movie is going to get fans excited with a bold visual statement like this, it better have some major plans in the works to back it up.
