Venom Spin-Off Movie: 5 Ways To Ensure It Won't Be Terrible

2. He Needs To Be A Badass Anti-Hero

If you've read the Venom comics, then you'll know that Venom's popularity as a Spider-Man villain led to him getting his own series, which saw him be reinvented as a total badass and anti-hero. The whole selling point was that he was willing to go to lengths that Spidey wouldn't to get the job done - and by that I mean he killed the bad guys (pretty gruesomely, too). This darker mirror image of Spider-Man could make for entertaining viewing for a more mature audience, then. They can't afford to glamorise Venom here - he's far too popular to neuter (again). But they do really need to hammer home the point that he is violent and unrelenting with an "ends justify the means" type mentality. Obviously it doesn't need to be a gore-fest to work, but it can't be My Little Pony, either.
