Venom Trailer Reactions: 7 Ups & 4 Downs

1. No Venom

Though there is something to be said for trailers not showing off too much of the goods this early in the marketing process, there's one thing most fans will have wanted to see in a trailer for Venom. And it's not Tom Hardy's lovely broad shoulders.

As most of the immediate comments on the trailer post stated in no uncertain terms, the trailer should have shown Venom. And that doesn't necessarily mean a full frontal reveal by any means: even just having his actual face in the darkness instead of the sperm logo would have been good. Or a flash of his hulking frame from behind. Anything, to be honest.

It DOES make the second trailer all the more important, but you have to wonder whether Sony haven't unwittingly robbed their audience of the one thing they came for. Sure, a Tom Hardy movie appeals to a broader audience base, but not showing Venom slightly alienates the actual Venom fans, and they're probably going to be the most vocal.
