Villain cast for GREEN LANTERN and it's Peter Sarsgaard!

Peter Sarsgaard possess the same physical gift that Lee Van Cleef was blessed with all those years ago - the perfect eyes to play a screen villain. The difference being Van Cleef's were the confident eyes of hungry rat stalking it's prey, but Sarsgaard has sad, world weary eyes - like he's been through hell and he wants revenge from somebody. He so often plays the seedy or jealous type and his characters always make me feel uncomfortable and uneasy, and yet not altogether unsympathetic because of his multifaceted range. He's a terrific actor and he will make a great comic book villain - so it goes without saying that I'm really on board for this casting. The Hollywood Reporter say he will play Dr. Hector Hammond, the main villain of WB's Green Lantern! Hammond was "the pathologist son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father's eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor". In the comics, he recently looked like this; But once looked like this; No prizes for guessing which depiction WB are likely to go with. No Sinestro then for Green Lantern I hear you cry? Well it seems like the character will probably appear as a mentor type before turning near the end, or maybe in the sequel and in the process becoming the long-term arch nemesis of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, as per his comics arc. Think Liam Neeson's role in Batman Begins but if he would later become The Joker, and that's what they are aiming for with Hammond. I'm liking the shape of this so far. Ryan Reynolds was a good choice for Jordan, Blake Lively's casting was a strange one but I'm all for fresh faces in comic book movies and Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, The Mask of Zorro) is a good action director, with a nice pacing for mass entertainment movies.
