7. Why Exactly Would They Keep The Babies?!

There is obviously some strategic value to the Colonel and his army keeping the adult apes alive in their work camp, as it allows them to improve their defences for the coming of their human enemies from the North, but there's absolutely no way they would have kept the babies alive.

If the end-goal of keeping the apes alive was to kill them once the wall was built, what value is there in keeping infants who offer absolutely nothing in terms of that physical usefulness?

The sad reality is that those chimp babies would have been killed off (or left to die somewhere else). Plus, if the adults are barely able to survive without food or water, how are the infants still so healthy?
