Looking for a starry sci-fi with lots of charisma and a delightful Alien vibe, you need to look no further than Life, the latest inter-stellar monster movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The likenesses to Ridley Scott's seminal Alien films are impossible to resist: the film charts a scientific teams discovery of new life on Mars, which turns out to be a killer alien that shows its true colours in double-quick, double-bloody fashion as the team sweat over the possible ramifications of it getting lose on Earth.

It looks smart, beautiful and genuinely scary and it's quickly jumped up the hype spectrum.
