Despite the huge critical and commercial success of both Jump Street reboot movies, a planned third film didn't materialise in short order after 2014's 22 Jump Street.

At one point Sony considered producing a crossover comedy between Jump Street and Men in Black, entitled MIB 23, but to the disappointment of many it also never came to pass.

Though star Channing Tatum revealed in 2024 that a script for 23 Jump Street was ready and "the best script I've ever read for a third movie," he also cast doubt on it ever happening due to the costs involved in producing the threequel.

But to the surprise of just about everyone, it was recently confirmed that the sequel, hilariously now called 24 Jump Street, is finally happening.

Tatum, Hill, and Ice Cube are all in talks to return, with Rodney Rothman (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) set to direct while original filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will produce.

Of all the comedy sequels that might survive a lengthy gestation period and almost certainly make fun of that fact, a new Jump Street is right at the top of the pile.
