20 Upcoming Movies You Won't Believe Are Real
13. Animal Friends
Animal Friends definitely feels like the sort of film that Hollywood seemed to leave behind in the 2010s - a kooky live-action-animated hybrid comedy.
But this one sure has one big surprise.
Ryan Reynolds and Jason Momoa will voice two fugitive animals, Pony and Bear, who set off on a journey across the United States to get back to the ranch that was their former home.
And for reasons that aren't yet clear, they're being pursued by a DEA agent (Aubrey Plaza) and Fish & Wildlife ranger (Dan Levy).
But here comes the big surprise - despite Animal Friends sounding like an extremely broad family comedy aiming at all four quadrants, it's actually R-rated.
More to the point, the MPA rating description lists "language throughout, sexual/crude material, and some violent content/bloody images."
That... sure sounds a good deal more interesting than what one might assume from the title and logline alone.
Animal Friends releases on January 22, 2027.
