20 Upcoming Movies You Won't Believe Are Real
12. The Entertainment System Is Down
Every new piece of information we hear about the new movie from Triangle of Sadness filmmaker Ruben Östlund just makes it sound even more insane.
The Entertainment System Is Down takes place on a transatlantic flight where the onboard entertainment system fails, causing chaos to break out.
Östlund has assembled one hell of an impressive cast for the film, including Keanu Reeves, Kirsten Dunst, Daniel Brühl, Samantha Morton, Nicholas Braun, Julie Delpy, Tobias Menzies, and Vincent Lindon.
Östlund is currently deep into post-production for a rumoured Cannes 2027 premiere, and in a recent interview the filmmaker dished some even more peculiar plot information.
After the plane's entertainment system fails, the cabin crew hook up one remaining screen so passengers can communally watch something, but they can't agree on whether to watch an Adam Sandler comedy or brilliant Russian filmmaker Andrey Zvyagintsev's art-house masterpiece Leviathan.
The ensuing argument causes the cabin crew to open part of the aircraft to try and repair the entertainment system, after which the plane malfunctions and crashes.
God bless Östlund and anyone helping fund something so aggressively strange. Here's hoping it's also good, though.
