Before Deadly Friend, there was Deadly Blessing, just to make things more confusing when taking a browse through Craven's films. Deadly Blessing is the story of a woman who's husband, previously the member of an Amish-like cult, passes away, resulting in mysterious events unfolding linked to his dangerously religious past.

It feels a lot like practice after finding his feet with early violent works and before Freddy hits screens and defined him, building a sense of unease stipulated with horrible nightmares about eating spiders. Another average effort, but another piece that went towards learning what doesn't work for the director at the same time. At least he has enough mistakes to grow from.
