Wes Craven: Every Movie Ranked Worst To Best
13. Deadly Friend
Sticking the brain of a robot into the brain-dead girl next door and turning her into a vengeful killing machine for those that wronged her sounds like a cheesy enough premise. And if there's anything a film with a title like 'Deadly Friend' is going to deliver on, it's cheese.
Again, as with most of the Craven efforts we've gone through by now, it is not a good movie. Rather it's just so outrageous and on-brand for the directors brand of messy horror and studio interference that it could fit anywhere in his post Elm Street back catalogue - people wanted creepy dream work rather than letting the director do his science-fiction-romance mash up... thing, and we got this weird mix instead.
There's an excellent moment where a woman's head is knocked off with a basketball, and some clever gore, to be fair at least.
