Wes Craven: Every Movie Ranked Worst To Best
17. Cursed
Wes Craven's tightrope walk between true horror and sarcastic humour is attempted to be carefully trodden down in this classic werewolf movie, in which a brother and sister are afflicted with the lycanthropy curse and have to take out the werewolf that did it to have any hope of returning to normality.
Now, as you'd expect at this point, Cursed isn't a great movie. When there's entries such as An American Werewolf In London, Ginger Snaps, Dog Soliders, and The Howling on the table it's a tough sell getting any sort of creature feature about werewolves on the same level - and Cursed is nothing more than a trashy bit of fun in comparison.
The actors are superb and the ideas are all there, but studio meddling rendered this one a flop before it had the chance to really find its claws. It's entertaining enough, and fantastically silly when we get a werewolf giving Christina Ricci the finger, but to say it's a solid feature is a stretch.
