Wes Craven: Every Movie Ranked Worst To Best
15. Scream 3
The worst in the Scream franchise, perhaps rather fittingly in proper trilogy fashion, Scream 3 is just a bit of a mess. When compared with the far superior first and second movies, three's efforts to provide a meta look at how horror and film constructions work just falls completely flat.
The Scream concept has well and truly been bled dry by this point, making the film somehow feel old and rehashed even when telling a whole new story. Craven's penchant for making his films fictional works within other films was once pretty novel, but it's hard to care about Scream 3's plot of a film cast being murdered in the same style as the first Scream movie when we have literally seen it all before.
It's not as clever as it should be, and it's a sad decline in a franchise that had hit some lofty heights. Saying all that though, it's still much better than some of his earlier work. Yikes.
