Wes Craven: Every Movie Ranked Worst To Best
14. Shocker
An electrifying entry from Craven, shocker is the story of a TV repairman sentenced to death by the electric chair, but lives on as the current electricity itself - channeling through television sets to murder people as they idly sit watching.
Of course, like plenty of Craven films, it bears close similarities to his more popular work which renders it somewhat familiar, especially with a wise-cracking supernatural protagonist - but the concept itself is at least something schlocky and camp enough to have a good time with.
Shocker feels like an attempt to relive past wins rather than invent something new, especially as the tone directly mimicks the Nightmare on Elm Street movement from serious horror to spooky fun. It's a good 80s romp, but it isn't anything groundbreaking. Just enjoy the weird techno scares and don't look too deeply into it.
