Career So Far: 56-year old French composer Desplat has been in the business since the late 1980s. After working extensively in French film and TV, he has worked more prominently in Hollywood productions since the 2000s. He won his first Oscar for Wes Anderson's 2014 movie The Grand Budapest Hotel.

2018 Oscar Win For: providing the atmospheric, unmistakably Gallic score for Guillermo Del Toro's The Shape of Water.

What's Next: With 176 credits to his name already, Desplat shows no signs of slowing. His work will next be heard on Wes Anderson's upcoming stop-motion animated film Isle of Dogs, and he has a further 4 films at various stages of post-production: Operation Finale, The Sisters Brothers, Kursk, and The Secret Life of Pets 2.
