Career So Far: The California-born Ivory has been in the business since the 1950s, working as producer, director and writer. Along with his longtime collaborator, producer Ismail Merchant, he was a founder of Merchant Ivory Productions, who were for many years synonymous with the British costume drama, thanks to such films as A Room With A View, Howard's End, and Remains of the Day.

2018 Oscar Win For: Best Adapted Screenplay for Call Me By Your Name. At 89, Ivory is the oldest Oscar recipient ever (not counting honorary winners).

What's Next: On top of a number of executive producer credits, Ivory is looking to get behind the camera as director for the first time since 2009, with a big screen take on Shakespeare's Richard II. Chris Terrio (Argo, Batman V Superman) is on script duties, and Ivory says Tom Hiddleston is poised to take the title role alongside Damian Lewis as Bolingbrook. However, the film doesn't have a green light just yet.
