What Is Your Favourite Astronaut Movie?
Alfonso Cuaron's highly anticipated film Gravity was released this weekend, to critical acclaim from audiences and critics alike. The film looks to be a financial success as well, pulling in an impressive $17.5 million on Friday and is projected to gross $52 million over the weekend, which will break the record for best October release of an original film. To celebrate Gravity's release, we've shifted the focus of this week's weekend prompt to outer space, and want to know what your favorite astronaut movie is. Space exploration is something that has intrigued mankind for centuries, and over the years we've seen dozens of films featuring brave men and women who leave Earth's atmosphere, whether on a mission to land on the Moon (a la Apollo 13) or stop an asteroid from destroying humanity (Armageddon). Astronaut films have transcended all genres, whether they be thrillers, sci-fi epics, horror films, summer blockbusters, or Oscar contenders.
