What The Avengers: Infinity War Cast Look Like In The Comics
6. Doctor Strange
In the Comics:
The Sorcerer Supreme and one of Marvel's most powerful characters, Doctor Strange has played a large role in the Marvel Universe over the years.
When the Silver Surfer crashes into his Sanctum and warns of Thanos' arrival, Strange and the other heroes prepare to face off with the Mad Titan. Strange's magic has been shown to be powerful enough to hold the Gauntlet off, even if temporarily.
In a later storyline, Ebony Maw, of Thanos' Black Order, takes control of Strange's mind and uses him as a double agent.
In the Film:
In possession of the Time Stone, Strange is able to protect it from Ebony Maw with a spell, forcing the Maw to take him to Titan, before Strange is rescued by Iron Man and Spider-Man.
Searching for a solution, Strange looks into millions of futures, finding only one in which they win, subsequently forcing him to trade the Time Stone for Tony Stark's life. He ends up dissolving with half the universe, telling Tony it was the only way.
He's played by Benedict Cumberbatch from his solo film onward, his appearance mostly consistent with his comics counterpart, though the Eye of Agamotto and the Time Stone were separate artefacts in the comics.
