What Your Favourite Batman Movie Says About You

5. Batman Begins (2005)

Batman BeginsThe Movie: The first ever superhero movie to consciously ground itself in realism, Batman Begins is a triumph on every level. Everything here - aside from an potentially excessive third act - seems to make perfect sense, proving that a realistic approach was perhaps the best route for Batman after all. The script grants its titular character a hugely interesting and compelling backstory, and crafts a believable world that feels natural for Bruce Wayne and co. to inhabit. Best of all, the first of Nolan's trilogy still clings to its source material's pulpy aesthetics, making this arguably the greatest Batman film of all-time. What It Says About You: You like The Dark Knight a lot - and it comes close to matching this one - but Batman Begins is a far more interesting film, and one you feel isn't afraid to still be "a Batman movie." As much as you like the gritty realism of the later Nolan entries, you appreciate that Begins still makes sense of the comic book material. As a result, you don't think Nolan ever bettered this first installment. You won't steer clear from arguing your case should a confrontation emerge, but you're consciously aware that you're probably in the minority, and should probably just keep quiet about your love for this one. You've searched Google eight or nine times since 2008 to make sure other people agree. Soundbite: "This one's just more fun than the other two. That, to me, is what Batman is all about." Favourite Movies: Spider-Man 2, Blade Runner
