Death Proof: The Loud-Mouth
Death Proof certainly lacks the narrative depth and complexity of Tarantino's other films. Is Quentin aware of this? Obviously. Does he care? Hell no! Tarantino knew what he wanted to do when he started shooting Death Proof. He isn't trying to reach the cinematic heights of his other films. Instead he is creating an archetypal example of a 'grindhouse' film, which is in short an unsubtle, unapologetic B-movie. This film simply delights in its own heavy-handedness. Those who favour Death Proof have no time for small talk about the chances of it raining on Wednesday - they're to the point and if anyone is offended by their direct nature they'll be waiting a long time for an apology.
