6. James Gunn & The Russos: The Perfect Team

When it was revealed that James Gunn would be stepping up from his Guardians franchise directing gig to focus on expanding the cosmic arm of the MCU, the question of what he'd be doing specifically obviously came into focus. His value to that role is that he knows the source material and seemingly wants to champion more strange directions, which is why he's the perfect man to help guide a Secret Wars adaptation (even a softer one).

And in the Russos, Marvel have a directing team capable of delivering even the grandest visions (seriously, Civil War shouldn't have worked and if Infinity War and its sequel do, they should be knighted) with flair and intellect. Plus, we already know that Joe Russo at least is keen on this story.

If that's not a greenlight for Marvel to press forward with it, it bloody well should be.
