Why Chris Nolan's Next Movie MUST Be This
3. Jim Carrey Is An Even Better Choice For Howard Hughes Now
Back when Nolan was first preparing his Hughes biopic with Jim Carrey in mind, Carrey was only around 40 years of age, placing a limit on exactly how much of Hughes' life he could realistically portray - as was also an issue with the 29-year-old DiCaprio portraying him in Scorsese's film.
But given that Nolan's script was reportedly based on the later years of Hughes' life, Carrey has only become better-suited for the part with age.
Carrey is 59 years old now and would be in his early 60s by the time shooting began, which would put him in the perfect age bracket to play Hughes from his 50s through to his final days aged 70.
Carrey's superb recent work on the Showtime series Kidding served as a killer reminder of just how talented a dramatic performer he is, but it's been a good while since he's had a truly substantial feature film script to sink his teeth into.
The fact that Carrey has only become more right for the role over the last 20 years really makes it feel like now is the time for Nolan to pull the trigger and get the project off the ground.
But before we go any further, we do have to consider one pressing issue - is Nolan still carrying a torch for the movie?
