Will Smith: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Will - The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air

Someone needs to resurrect The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air - whether for Where Are They Now? style movie, or for a final reunion series - because those characters we grew up with still have a huge amount of appeal even to generations who didn't necessarily get to see it air first time round. Fresh from near-bankruptcy, Smith took on the role of Will, a charmer from the West Philly, born and raised on the streets who found himself in the ultimate culture clash situation, living with his rich aunt and uncle in the affluent Bel-Air area. He was like the ugly duckling, or the black sheep, a cause for embarrassment, but never victimised by the show's comic gaze, and thanks to Smith's endless charm and comic prowess (both in terms of timing and physical comedy) he was the most unlikely of enduring heroes. As part of a great cast, Smith shone brightest, and his chemistry with each of the other characters was what sold the show, and gave it the longevity to still be relevant enough to overshadow the actor's auspicious career achievements even now when he lands on chat show couches. And now on to the performances that sucked...
