A Wonder Woman who once fought alongside Steve Trevor during during the war only to cross paths with a different version of him in the modern-day... sound familiar? Yes, the trailer of Wonder Woman 1984 drew a surprising number of parallels to Lynda Carter's classic Wonder Woman series.

The first season of the show was a period piece, set in the 1940s during the second World War, as Diana assisted Steve Trevor in the fight against the Nazis. However, a high budget resulted in ABC handing the series to CBS for Season 2. The new network dropped the period-setting and moved to, at the time, the modern-day: The 1970s. And this resulted in the ageless Diana working at the IADC alongside Steve's son, Steve Trevor Jr.

It's nice that Wonder Woman 1984 has adopted a somewhat similar approach of placing this ageless character in a brand new decade - one that is jarringly different to the previous one - with modern technology and allowing her to cross paths with a new Steve Trevor. It allows the film to follow in the footsteps of of the show's surprisingly successful reboot format while also making use of one of the many decades between Wonder Woman's 1917 and Batman v Superman's 2016.
