Wonder Woman Review: 10 Best Moments

4. The Prologue

Wonder Woman Young Diana
Warner Bros.

As so many origin stories do, Wonder Woman opens with a prologue where Diana reminisces about her childhood, growing up on Themyscira with a desire to fight alongside her fierce aunt, General Antiope, even while her mother Hippolyta insists she isn't to be trained for combat.

The prologue also reveals, by way of a gorgeous animated storybook, the feud between Zeus and Ares, as well as the nature of Diana's existence, being molded out of clay by Hippolyta and given life by Zeus.

Soon enough, Diana grows into adulthood and continues her training against Hippolyta's wishes, until she's able to use her bracelets to repel Antiope during sparring, signalling that she's finally a true Amazon.

And rather conveniently a few moments later, Steve Trevor crashes his plane into Themyscira's waters, bringing the prologue to an end.
