X-Force Movie: 10 Mutants That Must Be Included
6. Archangel
Angel may have endured two lacklustre cinematic appearances so far, but there's a reason why Fox keep returning to him (and no, it's not the garish chrome pallet).
As a founding member of the X-Men, there's a certain need on Fox's behalf to make the character work on the big screen. It's not as if they're short of which version to choose from either, with both the privileged Angel of yesteryear and the brooding Archangel of the eighties having suffered at the hands of Brett Ratner and Bryan Singer respectively.
But - for the purposes of an X-Force adaptation at least - Warren Worthington III is an integral part of the team. Certainly, the aforementioned Remender series placed a great deal of emphasis on the character. There, the villainous Archangel persona fought a war with Warren's normal self to assert control over his mind, body and spirit. It didn't end well.
It's a dynamic that would no doubt thrive in the gritty inflections of an X-Force drama, and although there's no romance shared between the onscreen versions of Angel and Psylocke yet, getting into Warren's head would make for an altogether more different kind of X-tale than what we've previously been used to.
