X-Men: 7 Best & 7 Worst Casting Decisions In The Franchise So Far
6. Tyler Mane - Sabretooth (X-Men)
Now admittedly, Bryan Singer's vision for Sabretooth was not as complex nor as taxing as Gavin Hood's Victor Creed, and thus probably didn't require Oscar Wilde to play him, but it would have been better to have someone with some actual charm to match the exceptional character design. It might have been different if Singer had got his way and been able to cast Kevin Nash - the initial target to play Sabretooth - but instead we ended up with a bargain basement alternative in the shape of his former WCW tag team-mate, Tyler "Nitro" Mane. Perhaps it's a little unfair to say he was awful, but he doesn't offer anything to the role that a stunt man in heavy make-up wouldn't: there is no actual acting behind Sabretooth in that first film, and though there is the suggestion that he is a genuine threat to Wolverine, that is very much despite the performance beneath the sideburns and fangs.
