X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Rumours That Mean It Could Be The Best One Yet

2. Everyone's Favourite Characters Are In This Film

It seems most of the rumours about Apocalypse revolve around which characters are in the film. Whether it's Cable, Bishop or even villain Mister Sinister, these rumours are generally nothing more than unsupported wishing. Although many of these cool-sounding X-Men rosters do include characters that are linked with the film's titular bad guy, it must be remembered that the movies frequently alter what happened in the comics out of all recognition. Actions taken by one X-Man in a comic from years ago can easily be transferred to a better known mutant in the film without the majority of the audience knowing or caring. What further undermines these claims is that for most of these fan-choices, some form of time travel would be needed for the characters to even make it to the 1980s. Since the most recent film just did the whole time travel shtick, yet more temporal shenanigans seem unlikely. Without the use of time travel, the characters' origins would need to be massively altered. Whilst changes to Cable and/or Bishop's backstories wouldn't be all that surprising, they would cancel out some of the point in using them. Sadly, it's hugely unlikely that characters like Cable and Bishop, who have so much backstory to explain, can be fitted into an already dense story.
