1. McKellen's Magneto Is Back To Lead The X-Men In The Future
The source of the final rumour in this list is none other than Patrick Stewart, who let slip that Ian McKellen will be reprising his role as Magneto inApocalypse. That's a doozy of a leak. For a start, McKellen is returning but Stewart isn't, which raises the very real possibility that Xavier 'dies' during the course of Apocalypse, temporarily erasing the Stewart version of Professor X from the timeline. If this is the case, McKellen could be playing a Magneto that takes over the X-Men and continues the fight against En Sabah Nur all the way up to the 21st century. Kinberg has also said in interviews that he's had enough of time travel for the moment, but that the next X-Men film could feature an alternate universe. It's not hard to imagine that the older Erik Lehnsherr will be used in scenes showing the audience what the world will be like if Apocalypse wins in 1983. As to how that alternative future might become visible to both filmgoers and the X-Men, the mutant precognitive, Destiny, could be the source of the information. Her close relationship with Mystique in the comics would make her inclusion a natural move. Of course, expect Xavier's 'death' to be reversed before the end of the film.
